LATE ARRIVAL
Students arriving after 9:00 AM will need to ring the door buzzer to be let into the building. Students will be marked tardy if they arrive to school after 9:00 AM and before 9:30 AM.

SIGNING YOUR CHILD OUT EARLY
Parents wishing to sign their child out from school early should notify the office and their child's teacher. Parents may call, write a note, or send an email. Parents must ring the door buzzer to notify the office that they have arrived to sign their child out. All parents will be asked to show a valid identification each time they sign their child out of school. Parents should not call ahead to have their child dismissed from class prior to your arrival. Parents should arrive early enough for your child to gather their belongings and walk to the office. This could take a few minutes, so plan accordingly. Please do not plan to sign your child out after 3:45 PM as we will be getting ready for regular dismissal.

CHANGE IN NORMAL DISMISSAL ROUTINE
If your child is going to be going home in a different manner, please notify the office AND your child's teacher by 3:00 PM. Many times, younger students forget or are unsure of how they are getting home. A phone call, note, or email to the school can prevent uncertainty. Your child will not be allowed to go home with someone other than a parent unless we have been notified of this change. Students will always be sent home in the normal manner, unless we are notified by a parent or guardian.

REPORTING A STUDENT ABSENT
If your child will be absent from school, please contact the office by 8:45 AM. If you are calling before 8:00 AM, please leave a message on the answering machine. When leaving your message, please include your name, your child's name, the teacher's name, the reason for the absence, and if you are requesting make-up work. If the office is not notified on the day of the absence, we will call you to verify the absence.

VACATION AND PLANNED ABSENCES
If you are aware that your child will be absent from school for an extended period of time, you can fill out a Planned Absence form. Parents can request make-up work that the child will miss while he or she is gone. All of the make-up work is due the day the child returns to school.

MAKE-UP WORK DUE TO ABSENCES
If you are requesting make-up work for your child due to an absence, we ask that you call the office by noon, so that the teacher has enough time to get the work together. The make-up work will be ready to be picked up by 3:00 PM. Students receive one day for each day they were absent to turn in the make-up work.

BOARD POLICY
The Board of Education has adopted a policy which outlines the steps a principal is to take in notifying parents to the number of school days which a child has been absent. The policy states that 15 absences will be considered excessive and 45 days may result in retention.
